RESOLUTION NO ~~4 8`3
WHEREAS, Mr. Clifford H. F. Lum, a prominent attorney and
community leader recently passed away; and
WHEREAS, in 1966 Mr. Lum moved to Hilo from Honolulu and began
his law career in 1970 as a law clerk with the County of Hawaii,
Office of the Corporation Counsel, ultimately becoming head of that
office from February 1972 through March 1977; and
WHEREAS, since the inception of the charter form of government
which began in January 1969, Clifford Lum was instrumental and
effective in helping to formulate crucial policy decisions of the
County government through these formative years, earning himself the
respect from his legal colleagues, the business community and public
officials within the entire state; and
WHEREAS, despite these demanding and important responsibilities,
Clifford Lum also devoted time towards active community service,
involving himself with the Lehua Jaycees, the Boy Scouts of America,
and the St. Joseph's PTG; and
WHEREAS, the fine tradition that Clifford Lum leaves behind as
an esteemed public servant and a respected community leader, will be
sorely missed, but will hopefully be carried on by his family; and
WHEREAS, as a devoted husband, a caring father, and a proud
parent, the happiness and love he shared with his family will
sustain their cherished memories of Cliff.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HAWAII that it acknowledges the noteworthy
Mr. Clifford H. F. Lum and commensurately
sympathy and condolences to his family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of.Hawaii be
instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to his wife
Alicia; his daughters Alison, Carol and Cathleen; and to his sons
Clifford and Christopher.
