RESOLUTION N0. °og`g 83
WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School "larriors" golf team won the
State team title at the 19th Annual Hawaii High School Athletic
Association golf tournament played at Kauai's Wailua Golf Course
April 21st and 22nd; and
WHEREAS, the four-time Big Island Interscholastic Federation
champions entered the final round of play in third place competing
with approximately 144 young high school golfers in the 36-hole
tournament for individual and team championships; and
WHEREAS, the "Warriors" stunning recovery from a four-stroke
deficit to win the tournament reflects well of the talent,
dedication and enthusiasm of the players, coaches and supporters
of the team; and
WHEREAS, this victory proved the quality and ability of these
young athletes to overcome adversity by finishing the competition
with four team members placing within the top fourteen in ~
individual medal play.
NOW, THEREFORE, 8E iT RESOLVED 8Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUPJTY OF
HAWAII that it proudly congratulates the State champion Waiakea
High School golf team, their coach and supporters for this
sterling accomplishment.
E3E I7 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to remit true copies of this Resolution to the
following members of the team, Gerald K. Aguiar, Craig K.
Kawaguchi, Gerard K. Moses, Lee T. Nishimoto, Kyle H. Shimokusu,
Alexander P. Toledo and Tedd D. Yamanaka; their coach, Rikio Mori;
Athletic Director, Melvin H. Otani; and Waiakea High School
Principal, John P. Sosa.
