HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 597 Draft 01 1980-1984' \/ RESOLUTION N0. ~~~ S~ WHEREAS, our island community is saddened with the unexpected passing of kama'aina Margaret Leinanf Ah Mat Amana; and idHEREAS, Margaret Amana, who was born end raised on the Big Island, was a well-known musician-singer and an assistant to her brother, Kumu Hula and entertainer Johnny Lum Ho; and WHEREAS, "Ma", as she was affectionately called, was active in the Hawaiian music and entertainment field, having worked with Tevana's Polynesian Revue, helping such people as Eddie Kamae and the Sons of Hawaii, and participating in such endeavors as the Kamehameha Day Hula Kahiko Competition, the Keiki Hula Contest, the Merrie Monarch Festival, the Hawaii County Fair Hula Auwana Program, and, more recently, enteraining on the Ocean Liners Constitution and Oceanic Independence; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Amana was a gentle person, kind, and ever so helpful having performed for many charitable functions all over the state and in California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEU BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to the family and friends of Margeret Leinanf Ah Mat Rmana, its heartfelt condolence in memory oP a lady whose personality and talents will be missed. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to Mr. Halford J. C. Amana; Mrs. Martha Lum Ho; and Johnny Lum Ho.
