FISCAL DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY. 1. Reallocate one position of Data Processing Unit Supervisor SR-21 to Data Processing Systems Analyst SR-24. The Department recently changed over from a.pure batch processing environment to include on-line inquiry, both hardware and software chances become necessary. Mucli of the Department's software is now being developed in-house. 2. If reallocation, list only new duties. (Fxamp].e: 1. Takes dictation .90€; 2. Keeps office accounts 30~, etc.): More responsibility given to•working with departmental users .in the problem determination, design, testing, implementation and turnover phases of data processing methods and applications. 3. Disti~uishing Characteristics: This class is distinguished by its responsibility for planning, supervising and coordinating data processing activities of a centralized data processing system. Illustrative Exa~les of VJoxk: Plans, organizes, coordinates and reviews the work of subordinates; supervises the operation of the data processing unit; develops plans for convezting from manual operations to electronic data processing operations and develops programs; develops and establishes operational policies and procedures for the adequate control, review, and audit of input output data, and for the keying and verifying of data; establishes and supervises the maintenance of a variety of source documents as required to insure accuracy and timeliness of prepas•ed reports; discusses problem areas with departmental representatives and develops or recommends procedures to resolve deficiencies; trains personnel in the data processing unit; determines and sets priorities for computer usage; keeps informed of and evaluates advances in computer equipment, and keeps in contact with vendors, sales representatives; maintains and requisitions necessary forms and supplies needed to operate the data processing facility. t+iinimum Qualification Reguirements: Training and Erpexienc_e: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in business or public administration, accounting, mathematics or a related field and 2 years of responsible experience in an automatic data processing operation: one of which shall have involved data control and review activities. Distinguishing Characteristics: This class is distinguished by its performance in the design, develop- ment and implementation of overall systems for electronic processing of data.
