HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 564 Draft 01 1980-1984 . r 0 RESOLUTION N0. 564 ~3 WHEREAS, out of the 13 Statewide Scouters who were presented with the coveted SILVER BEAVER AWARD at the 1982 Aloha Council Scouters Recognition Dinner held in Honolulu on January 25, 1983, two of the honorees were from the Big Island; and WHEREAS, 14-year veteran scouter Sadao Tanaka, presently Scoutmaster of Troop 78 (DeSilva School PTSA), and Itasca A. N. Ohumukini, Sr., District Commissioner of Kona, who have spent nine consecutive years in scouting activities were the recipients of the awards; and WHEREAS, the SILVER BEAVER AWARD is considered the highest award presented to volunteer scout leaders at the Council in the Boy. Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, Aloha Council serves 32,000 young Scouters on Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii, Trust Territory of the Pacific, American Samoa, Guam and the Commonwealth of Northern Plarianas; and WHEREAS, Itasca served in the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity and Exploring programs and was on the district level in the Scouting Program in the Kona District, which involved him in nearly all scouting activities; and WHEREAS, Sadao served as Committeeman, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, District Co-Chairman of the Scout Olympics, University scouting staff and booster for both Hilo High and Hilo Intermediate Schools. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Itasca A. N. Ohumukini, Sr. and to Sadao Tanaka for receiving the 1982 Aloha Council Scouters highest SILVER BEAVER AWARD and expresses its deepest appreciation for the unselfish service they have given to the young boys on the Big Island. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be instructed to remit a true copy of this resolution to Itasca A. N. Ohumukini, Sr. and to Sadao Tanaka.
