County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, Palani Road has been identified for transfer to the
State under Phase III of the State Highway System Agreement of
1968; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii finds that Palani
Road is a main artery into Kailua-Kona for West Hawaii residents
as well as being the principal commuter route for more than 20
subdivisions; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interest
of the State to begin roadway improvements to Palani Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to urge the Hawaii State
Legislature to set aside funds for roadway improvements to Palani
Road.
BE I7 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
send copies of this Resolution to the Honorable Richard Wong,
President of the Senate; the Honorable Henry Peters, Speaker of
the House; the Honorable Clifford Uwaine, Chairman, Senate
Transportation Committee; the Honorable Brian Taniguchi, Chairman,
House Transportation Committee; the Honorable Richard Henderson,
and the Honorable Malama Solomon, State Senators and to the
Honorable Virginia Isbell, State Representative.
