From: Gary Turner [gt4land@hawaiiantel.net] Sent: Wednesday, July 01, zoos 4:19 PM 2009 JUL 2 AN g 48 To: counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: Supporting the Ban on Biogcontrol C0Li ban biocontrol against relatives of the o'hia tree. The o'hia is in the myrtle family, and the concern is that insects and fungi that are used in biocontrol against other myrtle trees, such as the strawberry guava, guava, paperbark tree, surinam cherry, eucalyptus, and many others related to the o'hia, could evolve very quickly to pose a threat to the o'hia, which is the dominant tree of Hawaii's forests. PLEASE DONT INTRODUCE NEW, POTENTIAL HARMFUL INSECTS OR FUNGI TO THESE ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE ISLANDS. Thank you, Gary Turner 152734 Papio Street Pahoa, HI 96778 808 965 5000 Coma. No Z~ . Ref.
