Dear Councilwoman Naeole:
Although not born here I'm a long-time resident, with a deep love for the
flora and fauna that cim be found mostly only on these islands.
I am writing with concern for the fate of the Puna steam vents - a place I
always caM to to feel connected to the earth and grounded in nature. Most
of the other pea,?le I raw there seerned similarly affected by the silence
and sacredness 4 the area. I was distressed to hear of plains for a high end
subdivision, that would result in permanent segregation, designating it as a
playground for the extremely wealthy, excluding even those with reasonable
financial ream
I support the ideas Councilwoman Naeole is working on for keeping the
steam vents open to all the community for healthy recreation and enjoyment.
I ask that the Land Use Commission add for steam vents land parcel to the
prioritized purchase list so that the property does not go up for sale
to these private developers.
