PRESENTATION BY ROB TUCKER OF CASTLEBLOCK REGARDING NEW TECHNOLOGIES
WHICH HAVE THE CAPACITY TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC IMPROVEMENT IN
HAWAII (NEW CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND SYSTEMS).

From Rob Tucker, Casteblock, dated September 8, 1997,
stating that they would like to inform the Council
about new technologies regarding new construction
materials and systems which are now available that can
double or triple the lifespan of residential,
commercial and government structures which have the
capacity to make a significant economic improvement in
our island State.
Informs that with these improvements it is now possible
to ezceed current building code standards without
increased budgets and achieve substantial savings,
overtime, in repair and maintenance and improved
constructive standards can also greatly enhance
performance in a disaster reducing the load on
government in time of crisis.

ENDEAVOR TO CREATE A NEW MULTI-AGENCY PARTNERSHIP WITH
GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND
RFSrnF'NTS TO ADDRESS FAMILY AND INDIVIDUAL NEEDS
From Carol R. Ignacio, Executive Director, Office for
Social Ministry, Hawaii Island Catholic Social Ministry
(HICSM), and Steven T. Querobin, Project Coordinator,
VISTA (HICSM), dated July 7, 1997, encouraging the
above request.
Informs the Hawaii Island Catholic Social Ministry has
agreed to administer this program and provide its
tag-exempt status during its interim; a cooperative
relationship has been formed with Helping Hands Hawaii,
sponsor of the Community Clearinghouse on Oahu; and
'all-volunteer' staff support is being offered courtesy
of the Americorps/VISTA program.
Seeks Council's assistance in finding an in-kind
contribution of building space to ensure its stability
and to offset the high cost of rent. Submits
informational sheets on Community Clearinghouse of Oahu
and Helping Hands Hawaii.

November 25 at 8:30 p.m. The Planning Committee and Human Services
and Economic Development Committee meetings can be seen on Thursday,
November 20 at 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday, November 27 at 8:30 p.m.
All the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, November 30 at 9 a.m.
