ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OP THE HAWAII COUNTY COllE 1983
(1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-265, schedule 13 oC the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended to read as follows:
Section 24-265. Schedule 13. ~ReservedJ Yield locatimis.
When properly sign hosted, vehicles shall yield right-of-wav at the
following locations:
Hamakua
North Hilo
South Hilo
Ka'u
~ Kohala
Route 19, northwest bound, the right tum lane to Lindsey Road_
I(~ Kona
~ Puna
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article I Q division 5, section 24-280, schedule 28 (No parking
at anytime), subsection (e) Kohala, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended
to read as follows:
(a) Kohala
(1) Emmalani Street, both sides, for its entire length.

(2) Honomakua Road at Kohala High and Elementary School, from the exit
driveway of the school cottage to the makai boundary of the school
property.
(3) Hulukupuna Street, Kona side, from Emmalani Street for a distance of one
hundred twenty-five feet in the makai direction.
(4) Ka-iJhiwai Street, west side, for its entire length.
(5) Lanikila Street, west side, for its entire length.
(6) Lindsey Road, both sides, beginning at [Kawaihae Road] Route 19 and
extending two hundred fifty feet in the northerly direction[.], except along
the passenger loading zone fronting Parker School.
[(7) Lindsey Road in Waimea, Kona side, from Mamalahoa Highway and
extending northward for a distance of three hundred seventy-five feet.]
[(8)](7) Lua-Kula Street, north side, beginning at Paniolo Avenue and
extending six hundred eighty feet in the westerly direction and from a
point two thousand thirty-four feet west of Paniolo Avenue to a point
four hundred Feet in the northerly direction, and south side from
Paniolo Avenue to Melia Street.

[(10)](9 Mamalahoa Highway, mauka side, beginning at Lindsey Road and
extending four hundred ninety-five feet in the Hilo direction.
[(11)](10) Pa'akea Street, east side, for its entire length.

[(13)](12) Paniolo Avenue, from Waikoloa Road to a point four hundred fifty
feet north ofLua-Kula Street.

west of Queen Ka`ahumanu Highway and extending seven hundred
seventy feet in the westerly direction.
14 Route 19, northeast side, from apoint two hundred forty-four feet
northwest of the Route 19/Route 190 junction and extending five
hundred thirty-seven feet in the northwesterly direction.

15 Route 19, southwest side, from the Route 19/Route 190 junction and
extending seven hundred forty-two feet in the northwesterly direction.
[(15)]~ Uala Street, west side, for its entire length.
[(16)]~ On the Haws side of the access road connecting the Kohala Civic
Center to Route 270, starting from Route 270 and extending mauka for
a distance of three hundred feet.
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24-287, schedule 35 (Passenger
loading zones), subsection (e) Kohala, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding the following item to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
~ Lindsey Road, east side, from anoint fifty feet north of Route 19 and extending
one hundred twelve feet north from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to
3:30 p.m. on school davs.
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
