Re: Resolution 148-09, Resolution to approve the funds from the council to go to the
Residency Program
As a nurse in this community for the past 23 years, I am asking for your support for the
Rural Family Residency Program for Physicians and other Medical Professionals on the
Big Island. We are in dire need of more physicians to practice on the island and my hope
is for this residency program to produce qualified doctors, as well as other medical
professionals, that will stay and live in the community. We really need your help in
providing a funding source for the program or it will die. The impact of fewer physicians in
our community will have catastrophic consequences in a population that is already
underserved.
Thank you for your time and please consider assisting us with funding for the program by
passing Resolution 148-09.
