Subject: Comm 439 executive session
I ask that the counsel consider a vote to open this executive session. The information is
well known by the interested public, there are no secret players, and it is a fine
opportunity to allow the public to view this rarely observed part of the Council
proceedings - truly a sunshine opportunity.
On the issue itself, the alleged violation of the Sunshine statute, for anyone with even a
minimal exposure to a combination of administrative hearings as being conducted by OIP and
civil or criminal proceedings it is easy to predict the outcome. It appears that for the
most part you followed the guidance provided by Corporation Counsel and I ask that you
continue to do so, that you denounce this oligarchy you have created intentionally or
unintentionally, and get this matter behind you.
I quote from Mr. Ashida in his web site commentary:
"What definition most accurately describes the actions of the Council on June 16 will most
likely be determined by the future of the present majority, their initiatives and their
ability to craft meaningful legislation for the benefit of all island residents."
They key part, as I am sure you notice, is "for the benefit of all." I trust you are
capable of adhering to his sage advice.
