Resolution
WHEREAS, Kiholo Bay and its adjoining land areas have been
recognized as containing outstanding recreation resource values; and
WHEREAS, Kiholo Bay, centrally located to the communities of
Waimea, South Kohala and Kailua-Kona, is blessed with development
potentials for resort and residential communities; and
WHEREAS, 500 acres of State lands have been designated for a
proposed park oriented towards vacation activities; and
WHEREAS, tranquil environment complemented with the passive
activities of the area are ideal for the promotion of an
"International Park of Peace"; and
WHEREAS, a private developer has expressed an interest in the
development of a "World Think Tank" focussing upon the promotion of•
international peace and goodwill.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it concurs with the State's efforts to set aside lands
for a Kiholo Bay Regional Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council also recognizes the
potential development of a "World Think Tank" perpetuating '
international peace.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this Resolution to the Honorable George R.
Ariyoshi, Governor of the State of Hawaii; the Honorable
Richard Wong, President of the Senate; the Honorable Henry Peters,
Speaker of the House and the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor
of the County of Hawaii.
