County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Police Activities League (HIPAL)
began its initial activity on November 13, 1982, with a junior
boxing exhibition; and
WHEREAS, the dedication and commitment of the police officers
and volunteers serve to keep juveniles out of the criminal justice
system; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council recognizing the benefits of
the Police Activities League provided HIPAL the initial funds to
begin its programs in the 1982-83 fiscal budget; and
WHEREAS, success of this expanding program is highly
contingent upon continued support by the public and private
sectors of our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it authorizes the County sponsorship of the Junior
Amateur Boxing Program under the supervision of the Hawaii Island
Police Activities League or such other organizations desiring to
assume sponsorship of the program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii County Council extends
its support to the first boxing card scheduled for Saturday,
November 26, 1983.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this resolution to Mr. Guy Paul, Chief of
Police of the County of Hawaii.
