RESOLUTION NO. `!88 8~
WHEREAS, Violet Nahaku Brown Nathaniel, a kama'aina Big Island
resident, passed away at the age of eighty-five, after a full and
meaningful life; and
WHEREAS, born in Hilo in 1898, "Aunty Violet", as she was affec-
tionately known, was an endeared Hawaiian matriarch active with the
Haili Church, the Kaahumanu Society, the Hale O Na Alii, the
American Leqion Auxiliary, and for many years was a popular luau
caterer-entertainer; and
WHEREAS, a truly beloved daughter of Hawaii, Mrs. Violet
Nathaniel leaves her family of ten children, thirty-eight
grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and her many friends
with fond memories of a mother and woman who enjoyed life, her
family, friends and music.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its deepest sympathy to the family of
Mrs. Violet Nahaku Brown Nathaniel, along with its recognition of
the memorable contributions she has made towards the betterment and
enrichment of our island community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be
instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to sons Daniel Jr.,
Arnold, Thomas, Conrad, Webster, and Albert and daughters;
Kuaana Kekua, Violet Hanohano, Juliet Lindsey, and Rebecca McFadden
along with the Council's condolences.
