RESOLUTION NO. ~~J8 S3
WHEREAS, Mr. Bert Yamashita was chosen as the County of Hawaii
outstanding supervisor of the year 1983; and
WHEREAS, this honor was bestowed upon Mr. Yamashita at an appro-
priate recognition ceremony attended by his fellow nominee, friends,
relatives, colleagues, and his bosses, on October 21, 1983; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Yamashita began his career with the Department of
Public works in 1972, as a building maintenance repairman, and in a
relatively short period of time earned the rank of supervisor; and
WHEREAS, he was cited for his leadership skills, good judgment,
rapport with people, and being able to plan and complete major reno-
vation projects brought about by the need to relocate various county
agencies, within a specific time; and
WHEREAS, despite the time and fiscal constraints mandated by
this particular assignment, the regular maintenance program demands,
and personnel shortages within the division, Bert Yamashita rose to
the occasion and completed the work, saving the County time and
money and, more importantly, caused only a minimum disruption of
County services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it congratulates Mr. Bert T. Yamashita upon his being
selected the County of Hawaii 1983 Outstanding Supervisor of the
Year and wishes him continued success in his-goal of improving main-
tenance procedures.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to
Mr. Bert T. Yamashita and Chief Engineer Edward Harada.
