RESOLUTION NO. ~y~~ 8~
WHEREAS, the So Shinkai (Koto Club of Hilo) will celebrate
its Silver Jubilee on October 29, 19831 and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Midori Matayoshi, mother of the Honorable
Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, will be
acknowledged for her unselfish leadership and devotion to the
successes of the club, 19 years as president and 3 years as
advisor; and
WHEREAS, M%s. Matayoshi received her Shahan Menkyojo (Senior
Instructor's Certificate) from the Nomura Ryu Sookyoku Koyokai in
Okinawa; and
',WHEREAS, Mrs. Matayoshi has devoted countless hours in
perpetuating the art of the Okinawan Xoto throughout our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCiL~OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it congratulates the So Shinkai upon its S11ver
Jubilee celebrations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it further commends Mrs. Midori
Matayoshi for her accomplishments and dei~3;~cation to the preservation
of the fine art involved in the Okinawan Koto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit true copies of this resolution to Mrs. tdidori Matayoshi
and the So Shinkai.
