HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 773 Draft 01 1980-1984. ~ a County of Hawaii- - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, the "People of Aloha" first arrived on these shores of the Island of Hawaii from the South Pacific to perpetuate generations of the Aloha Spirit - a guiding way of life; and WHEREAS, this ingredient is the most needed in the world today for a peaceful and sane life; and WHEREAS, the Island of Hawaii is blessed with great opportunities for exemplifying peaceful and sensible living among peoples; and WHEREAS, Aloha means: Akahai - kindness Lokahi - unity, harmony Olu'olu - pleasantness, agreeableness Ha'aha'a - humility, modesty Ahonui - patience, perseverence. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it stresses and re-emphasizes the great importance of the Aloha Spirit; That it henceforth supports and promotes the Island as the "Aloha Island"; That it urges all residents to uphold and further this goal; That all activities will be molded and guided toward making this Island a living example of true peace in the world. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County government take the initiative in promoting and advancing this philosophy, that it will help to continually re-emphasize that Hawaii is a melting pot of peoples and cultures and that this means that every resident will perform a part to bring about an ever-growing harmony, dignity and peace that might be emulated by the world. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit copies of this resolution or its message be circulated as widely as possible in the County Government and in the community so that its message might be carried out for a forever beautiful Hawaii Nei.
