County of Hawaii- - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, West Hawaii's tremendous growth experience during the
past decade has forced government agencies to locate in temporary
facilities and at times logistically inconvenient locations; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council has long recognized that
Kealakehe is destined to play a major role in the centralization of
government agencies in North Kona, especially in light of
anticipated developments along the Queen Kaahumanu Highway; and
WHEREAS, the Council appropriated $25,000 for a Kealakehe Civic
Complex Master Plan centralizing primary County agencies and
programs; and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan will enable the State to set aside
adequate lands for use by the County as well as encourage the State
to locate their facilities in close proximity to the County's Civic
Complex.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF, THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it requests the early completion of the Master Plan for
a Kealakehe Civic Complex by the Administration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State be encouraged to consider
Kealakehe in their future facilities programs in West Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this Resolution to the Honorable George R.
Ariyoshi, Governor of the State of Hawaii and the Honorable
Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor of the County of Hawaii.
