Comm. 933: APPOINTMENT TO THE HAWAII COUNTY COMMITTEE
ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES -TED YAMANAKA
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated July 28, 1998.
informing he has appointed Ted Yamanaka to serve on the Hawaii
County Committee on People with Disabilities to be co-terminus
with his tenure ending on December 4, 2000.
Mr. Yamanaka is a 40-year resident of Hawaii, and since 1997 has
been a consultant, dba Ted Yamanaka Associates. Prior to that, he
was the administrative officer at the UHH.
(Note: This appointment does not need Council's confirmation)

Comm. 230: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT -ACT 173
(Bill 68) From Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, dated March 27,
1997, transmitting a bill to amend Chapter 24, Hawaii County
Code, relating to vehicles and traffic extending the Statewide
Traffic Code to certain private streets. Informs the owners of the
private roads are responsible for placing and maintaining all
official traffic control devices on these private streets after an
ordinance is adopted by the county. This amendment authorizes
the owner(s) ofthe private roads to place and maintain official
traffic control devices on their private roads.
Comm. 230.02: From Leslie Chow, Fiscal/Program Review Auditor, dated July 22,
(Bi1168) 1998, transmitting Bill 68, Draft 2 and submitting per PW&PC's
(Draft 2) request, a brief regarding the purpose and history of Bill 68.
Comm. 230.03: From Planning Director Virginia Goldstein, dated July 22, 1998,
1998, informing they have reviewed Bill 68, Draft 2, and have no
comments or objections to the proposed amendments.

The Public Works & Parks Committee and Finance Committee meetings can be seen on
Tuesday. August 18 at 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday, August 25 at 8:30 p.m. and the Human
Services and Economic Development Committee and the Planning Committee meetings
can be seen on Thursday, August 20 at 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 27 at 8:30 p.m.
All the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, August 30 at 9 a.m.
