RESOLUTION N0. 753 83
WHEREAS, "Real People", the popular prime-time television
program that focuses on people and places, returns to Hawaii to
film a one-hour episode featuring the Big Island of Hawaii and
our sister Neighbor Islands; and
WHEREAS, the people of the Big Island are enthused and
honored for this opportunity to present Hawaii's "real" charm,
splendor and Spirit of Aloha, which will air November 2 on the
NBC network on the mainland, and November 9 locally; and
WHEREAS, following the official greetings and salutations
by Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi in Hilo, the cast and crew will
visit notable East Hawaii attractions such as exotic anthurium
and orchid nurseries, scenic Black Sand Beach and hopefully,
Puu Kamoamoa in the Volcano region; and
WHEREAS, in Kona, "Real People" will visit West Hawaii's
picturesque City of Refuge, see coffee farms and mills where
world-renowned Kona Coffee is grown, and culminate its visit on
the Big Island with an authentic Hawaiian Luau at the Queen's
Palace.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it wishes the entire cast and production crew a
memorable time here on the Big Island and throughout their
island-hopping cruise.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council takes this
opportunity to extend to Mr. George Schlatter, Executive
Producer of "Real People", its fondest Mahalo and Aloha and
encourages him to revisit Hawaii soon.
