County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, large capital outlays during the past 30 years have
provided the opportunities for the visitor industry to mature as a
major economic base for the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, government must continue its efforts to encourage and
assist in the development of this labor intensive industry; and
WHEREAS, recreational and educational facilities are important
adjuncts to the attractions which make for a successful visitor
program; and
WHEREAS, Kiholo Bay State Park, Kua Bay Beach Park, Kamoa Point
and Umi's Temple are examples of undeveloped attractions with
potentials of contributing to the Big Island as a visitor
destination site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it recognizes the invaluable contributions our parks,
historic sites and other attractions may have upon the recreation
and edification of our visitors and residents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council direct the County
Administration to make a concerted effort with State and Federal
agencies to implement the undeveloped projects to add to Hawaii's
treasures.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this .Resolution be
forwarded to the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor of the County
of Hawaii, with a request for his comments.
