RESOLUTION NO. "161 83
WHEREAS, on September 20, 1983, with an appropriate ceremony,
the new Kohala Visitors Center in Hawi was opened to the public; and
WHEREAS, this welcome center is intended to assist all visitors
to North..Kohala.to. learn more about this area which is rich with
Hawaiian tradition and culture; and
WHEREAS,, the Kohala Visitors Center is a project of the
community, spearheaded by Jon Adams and Ira Leitel, and will be
manned by Kohala senior, citizens, namely, Ann Sterling,
Verna Dacuycuy, Emily Francisco, Dora Lincoln, Toyoko Ogawa,
Rose Rosimo, Mo11y.Moniz, Mary Farm and Sarah Pule; and
WHEREAS, these dedicated volunteers placed in the attractive
setting helping visitors with maps, brochures, and showcasing some
of the arts and crafts of the community, will enhance tourism; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends best wishes to the Kohala Visitors Center and
wish it perpetual success in this worthy community endeavor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to Jon Adams
and Ira Leitel and to the Senior Citizen volunteers.
