RESOLUTION NO. ~y41 83 L
WHEREAS, the Big Island Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs will
be hosting the 33rd Diocesan Conaress of Filipino Catholic Clubs
Convention on November 25, 26, 27, 1983 here in Hilo; and
WHEREAS, this organization of Catholic Filipino lay people has
been active in our communities for thirty-three years and has been
the needed catalyst by which its members, their families and
supporters have spiritually, culturally and educationally enriched
their lives; and
WHEREAS, in 1948, the Reverend Monsignor Osmundo Calip assigned
from the Philippines, founded the Filipino Catholic Clubs, for the
purpose of rejuvenating Catholicism among the immigrants who had
fallen away from the faith; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Calip's successful pioneering efforts is
reflected today by the existence of five island councils and
thirty-seven parish units; and
WHEREAS, the theme of the 33rd Diocesan Congress is "Lay
Ministry: Our Baptismal Commitment", intended to focus on the many
volunteer services that members devote to their parishes in teaching
and practicing religious education, attending to the hospitalized,
giving communion to shut-ins, serving as Eucharistic Ministers, and
other noteworthy deeds beneficial to themselves and the Church.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it commends the Big Island Hawaii Council of Filipino
Catholic Clubs on the advent of their 33rd Diocesan Congress, and
wishes them continued success in helping to make better citizens,
and improve upon community life while in their practice of the
Catholic Faith.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit a true copy of this resolution to
Violet L. Simpliciano, President of the Hawaii Council of the
Filipino Catholic Clubs.
