RESOLUTION NO. `13S $3
WHEREAS, when Arte Johnson first visited the Big Island in
1971, he and Gisela discovered their own special haven of
happiness at the Kona Village Resort; and
WHEREAS, because Arte Johnson has over the years encouraged
his many fans and friends to make the Big Island their tourist
destination area, he was named "Goodwill Ambassador for the Big
Island of Hawaii" in 1975; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Arte Johnson
returns to the Big Island on this special day to help celebrate
the inauguration of United Airline's Kona-Mainland direct
flight.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in appreciation of the goodwill that Arte
Johnson has generated for the Big Island that it bestows upon
him the title of "HONORARY MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a true copy of this resolution
be presented to Arte and Gisela Johnson along with the County
Council's wishes that their residency at "New Herbides Five"
and their love for the Big Island be a lasting and happy one.
