HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 731 Draft 01 1980-1984 aS \J v RESOLUTION N0. ~31_S3 WHEREAS, Mr. James Kealoha, 75, who compiled an outstanding record in politics spanning four decades, passed away on August 24, 1983; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kealona's career in politics began in 1934 at age 25, when he was first elected to the Territorial blouse of Representatives, and at age 30, served in the Territorial Senate, making him the youngest person ever elected to that body; and WHEREAS, in the 194U's and 1950's, Mr. Kealoha focused his attention to Big Island elective office, winning three terms on the County Board of Supervisors and six consecutive terms as the County Chairman; and WHEF.EAS, in 1959, Mr. Kealoha was elected as the State Lieutenant Governor, and served in that capacity until 1962; and WHEREAS, thanks to his astute statesmanship and commitment to making Hawaii a better place to live, Big Islanders today are the benefactors of many public projects which he initiated througout his tenureship in public service. NOW, THEREFORE, 6E I7 RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it expresses its deepest sympathy to the family of the late James Kealoha, former Lieutenant Governor of the State of Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit true copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Miulan Kealoha and daughters Emma and Lillie.
