"f2,'9 ~;~ WHEREAS, the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs will be convening their 24th Annual Convention covering the period of November 11 to 12, 1983, at Keauhou, Kona; and WHEREAS, there are forty-two Hawaiian Civic Clubs throughout our State and California, including nine active chapters on the Big Island; and WHEREAS, as in previous conventions, many meaningful discussions, concerns, and challenges will be addressed and hopefully, to the benefit of all of the Hawaiian communities; and WHEREAS, this year the appropriate theme of "I Ku No I Ka Mana A Ke Kahu Hanai" or Traits Acquired From Those Who Raise a Child, has been selected; and WHEREAS, it is the Association's determination that there is a need to pause and seek ways to assist the young Hawaiian people to develop qualities in preparation for the complex world ahead of them. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to the association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs hopes for success at its 24th Annual Convention and for the attainment of its noble goals. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to Mr. Benson Lee, Sr., President of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs and the Executive Board, along with the Council's best wishes to the 1,200 delegates for a safe and meaningful convention.
