HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 718 Draft 01 1980-1984e O County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution , WHEREAS, vehicular traffic safety, especially on highways because of the higher speeds and the attendant lesser time to react to dangers, is a critical concern to everyone; and WHEREAS, a potentially dangerous situation exists at the intersection of the Belt Highway and Plumeria Street above Honokaa when a driver heading in the Hilo direction negotiates a left turn from the Belt Highway onto Plumeria Street; and WHEREAS, the Honokaa Business Association requests that this hazard be minimized by adding another lane to accommodate left turn movement from the Belt Highway; and WHEREAS, the condition warrants immediate corrective action as several near rear end collisions have occurred in the past. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE.000NTY OF HAWAII that the Council endorses the Honokaa Business Association's concern that immediate action is justified and desirable for public safety. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit copies of this Resolution to Dr. Ryokichi Higashionna, Director of the State Department of Transportation; Mr. Alvah Miyamoto, Big Island District Engineer of the Highways Division; and Mr. Ed Castillio, President of the Honokaa Business Association.
