'~~"~ ~~ WHEREAS, KOFIA-TV, which is the first local commercial television station to operate outside of Oahu, begins its regular programming on August 22, 1983; and WHEREAS, KUHA-TV, will initially transmit from 4 to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and its signal from atop the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel will extend beyond Hilo proper to Laupanoehoe, Paradise Park and Glenwood; and WHEREAS, its long-range goal is to eventually serve the entire island with even longer hours and more programming; and WHEREAS, KOHA-TV, as a secondary affiliate to the three major television networks and CNN, significantly expands the entertainment as well as informational needs of Big Islanders because it focuses on presenting Big Island news, sports, real estate and children's programs. NOW, THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVEU BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HA6•IAII that it congratulates KOHA-TV, on its auspicious opening on August 22. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit copies of this Resolution to President Chuck Henry and Buck Investments, co-owners of Oceanic Broadcasting Company, which is a Hawaii corporation; Mr. Charles Lohr, General Manager of KOHA-TV, and the staff at KOHA-TV for Success and Good Fortune in the coming years.
