HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 715 Draft 01 1980-1984~- o RESOLUTION NO. 0 ~I~S C7~ WHEREAS, the first ever Bronco Asian-Pacific Zone Tournament was successfully held at the Francis Wong Stadium on August 3-6, 1983; and WHEREAS, this baseball tournament involving 11-12 year old youngsters had an international flavor, in that teams from Japan, the Philippines, Oahu and the Big Island participated in an exciting and well organized zone championship play off; and WHEREAS, besides the benefits of the experience the participants have gained, the greater significance of this recreational, social and cultural integration of players, coaches, relatives and supporters of Bronco baseball have definitely enhanced understanding and friendship among the different nations that were involved; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the second annual zone tournament will also be played in Hilo with the countries of Korea and Australia listes as potential additional entries. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it commends the organizers and sponsors for initiating the 1st annual Bronco Asian-Pacific Zone Tournament on its maiden success and wishes them continued good fortune and hope that efforts be made to make the Big Island the permanent site for all future zone tournaments. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to Bill Simmons, International Director, Pony Baseball, Inc.; Albert A. Kelenui, Region Director, Hawaii Pony Baseball, Inc.; Wayne Subica, Director, Section 1, Hawaii; and Clyde Matsunaga, President of the Hilo Mustang-Bronco Baseball League.
