'JOS k4'i WHEREAS, the newly formed Kailua Village Association (KVA) was formally established with the election and seating of its first slate of officers effective June 17, 1983; and WHEREAS, this Association's stated purpose is "Committed to creating ways to enhance our community spirit and Aloha to make Kailua Village a better place to work, live and visit"; and WHEREAS, it is timely that the Kailua Village Association comes into existence, as Kona's rapid growth in population, in business ventures, and being our island's choice tourist destination area requires organization, planning, and consensus from those directly affected to properly address the concerns that accompany such developments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends 'its commendation along with wishes for success to the KVA for their initiative and foresight in pooling the resources and talents of the people of Kona towards the betterment of their community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to the officers and charter members of the Kailua Village Association namely, President William "Uncle Billy" Kimi; Vice-President, Joe Kaipo; Secretary, Carol Patty, and Treasurer, Dottie Freitas.
