RESOLUTION NO. 91~ S~
WHEREAS, on June 9th and 10th, 1984, the Papaaloa Honqwanji
Mission will be celebrating its 80th year of existence and
progress; and
WHEREAS, in 1903, recognizing the necessity for a place of
worship for the Japanese immigrants who had come from the many
prefectures from Japan, they followed other missions who
preceded them in constructing temples and appointed ministers in
the progagation of the Shin-sect Buddhism at Papaaloa; and
WHEREAS, since this humble beginning, the Papaaloa Honqwanji
Mission has been served by fifteen ministers who are as
follows: Joei Abe, Teisho Toda, Kogen Nitta, Ryukei Uehara,
Mineo Yoshino, Hakuai Oda, Shinryo Hashimoto, Kakusho Izumi,
Shoshin Kishi, Shoyei Hatta, Setsuo Takaki, Josho Yoshii,
Hiroo Kahara, Junkai Toyoura, and Toyokazu Hagio; and
WHEREAS, the Papaaloa Honqwanji Mission's Kiyodan and its
affiliated organization maintain impressive membership totals,
such as the Kiyodan with 120, Fujinkai 85, Shinyukai 40;
Chozukai 30,Sunday School 13, and has with its teachings and
community work, been a positive and contributing factor towards
the ethical and moral well being of the people in the comunity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in recognition and commemoration of the Papaaloa
Honqwanji Mission's 80th Anniversary, it extends the Council's
congratulations and wishes for their continued propagation of
the teaching of Amida Buddha, and for being a positive and
contributing factor towards the ethical and moral well-being of ~-
the people in the community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to
the Reverend Toyokazu Hagio and Mr. Richard Fujii, President of
the Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission Kiyodan.
