PW&PG39 2 September I, 1998 Comm. 948: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT (Bill 281) KALOKO DRIVE: PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION From Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, dated August 12, 1998, per request, transmits a bill to reduce the speed limit along the lower portion of Kaloko Drive to 35 mph. The speed limit is currently posted at 40 mph. Informs it was brought to their attention that a number of school children congregate along this section of Kaloko Drive to wait for the school bus, and they concur that lowering the speed limit would improve overall traffic safely in the immediate area. States the Kona Police have no objections to the proposal. Comm. 952: UPDATE OF THE MICONIA CONTAINMENT/ERADICATION PROJECT From Margarita L. Hopkins, Economic Development Specialist, Department of Research and Development, dated August 18, 1998, informing the Big Island Melastome Action Committee would like to make a presentation about the current status of the above- mentioned project. Informs the County Council provided a total funding of $175,000 for this project, and the initial funding was for $75,000 during the fiscal year 1995/96, and an additional $100,000 for fiscal year 1996-97. PW&PC-39 3 September I, 1998 UNFINISHED BUSINESS Bill 213 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, (Draft 2) ADMINISTRATION, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (C-770.01) (1995 EDITION) BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE ENTITLED '`CONDEMNATION NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES" Comm. 770.02: From Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, dated .lune 29, 1998, transmitting their comments on Bill 213. Comm. 770.03: From Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, dated July 15, 1998, transmitting a draft guide outlining acquisition procedures that the Department will be following. Mr. Al Inoue of Inoue Hawaii Realty has been contracted as a Land Agent by the Engineering Division and is helping their department in the development of the guide. (Note: Bi11213, Dratt 2, and Comms. 770.02 and 770.03 were referred back to the PWPC by the Council on August 5, 1998.)
