HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 839 Draft 01 1980-1984~,.. 0 County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-114, Hawaii County Code, as amended, provides that the County Council may direct the Finance Director to negotiate the disposition of real property by lease to non-profit organizations at such terms and conditions as deemed proper; and WHEREAS, the County Council has expressed the need for a group horne for developmentally disabled adults in West Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the County has acquired a one-acre property located in Kealakekua, Hawaii, for the development of a group home for the developmentally disabled; and WHEREAS, the Kona Association for. Retarded Citizens (KARC) is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization for the handicapped and developmentally disabled in West Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the KARC has received financing from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to construct a group home for the developmentally disabled in West Hawaii; and WHEREAS, one of the conditions of the HUD financing is that the County execute a lease with KARC for a minimum of fifty (50) years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Finance Director is hereby directed to negotiate a lease, with terms to include a minimum duration of fifty (50) years, at set rental of one_dollar (x1.00) per year to the Kona Association for Retarded Citizens. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Kona Association for Retarded Citizens, the Department of Finance, and the Office of Housing and Community Development.
