RESOLUTION N0. 831 S5~
WHEREAS, the University of Hawaii at Manoa Women's Volleyball
Team won their third consecutive national title by capturing the
1983 NCAA Division II National Volleyball Championship in Lexington,
Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the Rainbow 4Jahines in amassing an impressive 34-2
record, dominated the championship match against the women of UCLA,
defeating them 15-13, 15-4, 15-10; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding and consistent performance
earned them the respect and admiration of Hawaii fans and
supporters, as well as others throughout the country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED HY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to the women and coaching
staff of the University of Hawaii at Manoa volleyball team, winners
of the NCAA Division II National Volleyball Championship.
HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit true copies oP this Resolution to team members Debbi Hlack,
Deitre Collins, Naomi Higa, Susan Hlavenka, Joyce Kaapuni, Pam
Lawrence, Sista Palakiko, Lee Ann Pestana, Kori Pulaski, Kris
Pulaski, Lisa Strand, Roblynn (Missy) Yomes and Marcie Wurts; Head
Coach Dave Shoji; Assistant Coach Dean Nowack; Student Assistant
Diane Sebastian; Trainer Melody Toth; Assistant Athletic Director
and Director of Women's Sports Cindy Mazda and Dr. Fujio Matsuda,
President, University of Hawaii.
