RESOLUTION N0. ~2~ 8~
WHEREAS, Police Captain Richard K. Akiona retired on January 1,
1984, after 26 years of feithful, dedicated service with the Hawaii
County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, in his final assignment as Captain of the North Hilo
Districi, Captain Akiona won praise and respect of his superiors and
subordinates alike for his professionalism and outstanding esprit de
corps he developed in his command; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being a solid leader, Captain Akiona
also actively participated in community events, being an avid
supporter of St. Joseph's School's student activities, particularly
the Booster Ciub and assisting in numerous fundraising events for
many years.
NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII 'that it extends its sincere congratulations and Tip of the
Coconut Papale to Captain Richard K. Akiona for completing a
distinguished 26-year career in law enforcement with the Hawaii
County Police Department.
6E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council wishes that this festive
retirement party here at Hilo Meishoin Church on February 4 be
forever remembered and cherished by Richard and his lovely wife,
Beverly, as this gathering's testimony and salute to an outstanding
officer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
send this resolution to Richard K. Akiona. .
