OFFICE OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL 1. Duties Summary: Supervises and participates in clerical work connected with the registration of voters and preparation for elections; and performs other related duties as required. P,i^tinguishing Characteristics: This class differs from other clerical classes by its responsibility for supervising and performing specialized clerical functions requiring the interpretatior, and application of election laws, rules and regulations. Knowledge of: principles and practices of supervision; election laws, rules, regulations and ordinances; office practices and procedures; filing systems; uses of various standard office machines. Ability to: plan, assign and supervise the work of others; understand and interpret laws, ordinances, rules and regulations; make sound decisions based on faots;~compare names and numbers acourately; give and follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work harmoniously with others. Give reasons how new duties arose (statutes enacted, Ordinances, _Newly authorized programs, basis for increased workloads, etc.): The position of Sr. Election Clerk-Stenographer was established in October 1973, Resolution No. 135.• At tha)'time, election work w.as not automated as it is today and the Election Division was basically a two person operations with the Sr. Election Clerk Stenographer assigned to do a range of manual and clerical work. With the expansion of the staff and implementation of electronic data processing system, a re-evaluation of job requirement is appropriate at this time. 2. Xf reallocation, list only new duties.
