<br /> <br /> <br /> os•y- <br /> V o l <br /> fT' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 224 09 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION ALLOWING COUNCIL MEMBERS TO VOLUNTARILY <br /> REQUEST TO TRANSFER NO LESS THAN $5,000 FROM COUNTY CLERK'S <br /> SALARY AND WAGES (S&W) ACCOUNT TO THE CONTINGENCY RELIEF <br /> ACCOUNT, TO BE APPROPRIATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT <br /> CONTINGENCY RELIEF FUND PROCEDURES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council should exercise leadership during these <br /> difficult economic times, particularly in terms of compensation levels; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, some Hawaii County Council members may wish to use a portion of <br /> their County salaries as a means of financially supporting chosen 501(c)(3) non-profit <br /> organizations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in previous terms, Council members had the use of a Contingency <br /> Relief Fund to help fund programs and activities offered by 501(c)(3) non-profit <br /> organizations and sponsored by the County, and effective procedures already exist for the <br /> appropriation of Contingency Relief Funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, final determination of salary transfer procedures will be done <br /> accordingly; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> that Council members can choose to voluntarily transfer a specific amount, not less than <br /> $5,000, from County Clerk's S&W accounts to the Contingency Relief account. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the amount transferred to the Contingency <br /> Relief account be further appropriated by that Council member in accordance with existing <br /> Contingency Relief Fund appropriation procedures. <br />
