RESOLUTION N0. 2s 99
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING $4,000 OUT AND FROM
THE CLERK/COUNC[L'S MISCELLANEOUS CONTRACT SERVICES ACCOUNT
AND CREDITING THE SAME TO PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT,
ELDERLY DIVISION.
WHEREAS, the Elderly Activities Division (EAD), a division of the County
Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsoring two Senior Health Fairs; and
WHEREAS, one fair will be held in West Hawaii on May 5, 1999 and the other in
East Hawaii on November 19, 1999; and
WHEREAS, these Senior Health Fairs will help to increase older citizens'
awareness of the various services and benefits provided by the County's Elderly
Programs; and
WHEREAS, these Senior Health Fairs will also promote wellness, preventive
education, nutritious diet by offering free cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes
screening; and
WHEREAS, offering free bus transportation on both dates will ensure that seniors
throughout the entire County of Hawaii will have the opportunity to gain from these
worthwhile events; and
WHEREAS, the County Council recognizes the significant contributions senior
citizens have made, and continue to make, to our society.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it supports the efforts by the Elderly Activities Division to
educate and keep our seniors active and healthy and will assist in sponsoring the
transportation for the 1999 West and East Hawaii Health Fairs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $4,000 be and is hereby
transferred/appropriated out and from Clerk Council SVC OCE Miscellaneous Contract
Services Account No. 010-101-5101.02-115 and credited to Parks and Recreation
Department, Elderly Activities Division, OCE Miscellaneous Contract Services Account
No. 010-500-5519.72-1 15, for the purpose of providing bus transportation for senior
citizens to attend the 1999 Senior Health Fairs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the
Honorable Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro; Finance Director Harry Takahashi; Parks and
Recreation Director Julie Tulang; and EAD Operations Director Harold Bugado, and
County Clerk Alan Konishi.
