HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 834 Draft 01 1980-1984-. ~._ . ~ - ~~ ~ o County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor is one of Hawaii County's most serious traffic safety problems; and WHEREAS, drunken driving is the cause of many deaths on Big Island's highways which warrants the continuation of the Special Traffic Enforcement Unit; and WHEREAS, stronger legislation increasing enforcement and swift adjudication is necessary to impress upon the severity of the drunken driving problem; and WHEREAS, House Bill 1676-84 Relating to Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor provides the legislation to serve as a deterrent to drunken driving. NOW, THEREFOKE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it fully supports House Bill 1676-84 as necessary legislation in an effort to deter drunken driving. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit copies of this Resolution to the Honorable Henry H. Peters, Speaker of the House of Representatives; the Honorable Richard S. H. Wong, President of the Senate; and the Honorable Andrew Levin, House of Representatives.
