WHEREAS, JOSEPH R. GARCIA, JR., has announced his
retirement from active legislative service with the completion
of his 1976-1980 term as a Hawaii County Council Councilman;
and
WHEREAS, Councilman JOSEPH R. GARCIA, JR.', has given much
to the County of Hawaii, having served for 24 productive years
as a Representative in our Territorial and State House of
Representatives and for 4 years as a County Councilman; and
WHEREAS, throughout these 28 years of active legislative
service, JOSEPH R. GARCIA-, JR., has always been a respected
leader serving as Minority Leader and Minority Floor Leader in
the House of Representat ives and as the Vice -Chairman of the
Hawaii County Council; and
WHEREAS, the leadership and boundless knowledge and
experience of this articulate solon will surely be missed by all.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its best wishes to Vice -Chairman
JOSEPH R. GARCIA, JR., upon his retirement and thanks him on
behalf of the people of the County of Hawaii for his many years
of self-sacrifice, dedication and service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to forward a true copy of this resolution
to JOSEPH R. GARCIA, JR.
