HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 718 Draft 01 1976-1980RESOLUTION NO. - 718 KHEREAS, on October 11, 1980, the Papaikou Filipino Catholic Club, whose domicile is the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,observed its 20th Anniversary; and WHEREAS, the Filipino Catholic Clubs (FCC) in Hawaii originated with the coming of Father Osmundo Calip from the Philipines on December 4, 1958, who lit the.torches, culminating the organization of 39 units in each of the parishes throughout the State of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the Papaikon Filipino Catholic Club was involved in F the reactivation of the Big Island FCC Council, thus strengthening the Statewide FCC Council; and WHEREAS, over the past twenty years the Papaikou Filipino Catholic Club, has had as its continuing goals of (1) .-increasing the involvement'of the family unit towards Christianiti?'througn the Catholic movement, (2) reaching out; communicating and assisting the sick; the elderly and the new :immigrants; and (3) enhancing the appreciation and understanding of the Filipino culture and heritage-. NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE.COUNTY OF HAWAII that it recognizes and commends the Papaikou Pilipino Catholic Club for the many community deeds and contributions it has made over the years and, more importantly, for the many,good citizens it has, developed through its religious and humanitarian teachings: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii County Council extends congratulations to the officers Of the Papaikou Filipino Catholic Club on their 20th Anniversary: BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be instructed to remit true copies Of this resolutionto Mr. Ted Andrada, President of the,Papalkou Filipino Catholic Club`, and to Father Richard Kardian of the Immaculate Heart of.Mary Church; along with our wishes for continued and everlasting success.
