WHEREAS, the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH) has realized
remarkable national recognition and success through its Vulcans'
athletic programs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ramon Goya, UHH's first full-time Athletic
Director, has been the instrumental figure in the development of
these athletic programs; and'.
WHEREAS, Mr. Goya, a quiet and humble person by nature, can
be proud of his accomplishments in the short but critical period
he served as Athletic Director; and
WHEREAS, his record includes Men's Basketball, three District II
NAIA championships in four seasons; Women's Volleyball, national
AIAW championship in the second year of AIAW competition; and
WHEREAS, due to personal health reasons, Mr.. Goya has decided
to relinquish his position as Athletic Director to return to
classroom instruction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it commends Mr.. Ramon Goya for his outstanding achieve-
ments as the first fullgt.ime'Athletic Director of the University
of Hawaii at Hilo and wishes him continued success in his future
aspirations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this resolution to
Mr: Ramon Goya.
