Resolution
WHEREAS, hauling old and/or abandoned cars from the rural
districts to the Hilo sanitary fill is distant and relatively
dangerous because of the high-speed traffic; and
WHEREAS, most auto owners who desire to discard their cars
lack the resources and know-how to tow their cars extended
distances; and
WHEREAS, there has been increasing requests for designating
an area in proximity to rural transfer stations for depositing
unwanted cars,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the Department of Public Works conduct a study to
determine the feasibility of providing the additional service
for residents to deposit unwanted cars at the Pahoa and Volcano
transfer station sites.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Chief Engineer Edward Harada
advise the Council of its findings within 30 days.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this resolution to Chief Engineer Edward Harada
