HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 678 Draft 01 1976-1980County of Hawaii --State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, Item K-122 (Government -Wide Support) of 'Act 214, Tenth State Legislature, 1979, appropriated $50,000 for the Preservation of the Old Hilo Police Station by the East Hawaii Cultural Council; and WHEREAS, Resolution 642 of the Hawaii County Council authorizes the Mayor of the County of Hawaii to negotiate and enter into a lease contract with the East Hawaii Cultural Council for the use of the Old Hilo Police Station as an art and cultural center; and WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii recognizes the positive effects which cultural activities may have upon the daily lives of the people of our State and County, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it asks the Honorable George R. Ariyoshi, Governor of the State of Hawaii, to participate with the County Council in sup- porting the use of the Old Hilo Police Station as a cultural activities center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Honorable Governor be requested to authorize the release of the $50,000 for the restoration project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit a copy of this resolution to the Honorable George R. Ariyoshi, Governor of the State of Hawaii, the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor of the County of Hawaii and Mrs. Frances Sherrard, Chairwoman of the East Hawaii Cultural Council. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 20th day of August, 1980.
