WHEREAS, the Third Annual Honokaa Macadamia Nut Festival
will be held during August 15-24, 1980, in the town of Honokaa,
the Macadamia Nut Capital of the World; and
WHEREAS, this annual event is held in commemoration of the
Hawaii Macadamia Nut Industry's place of origin; and
WHEREAS, the Macadamia Nut Industry has provided employment
opportunities for the people of the Hamakua district and has also
provided the necessary economic stability during periods of
uncertainties; and
WHEREAS, the Mac Nut Festival has also opened the door for
the Honokaa business community to a bigger market segment, known
as the visitor industry, as the festival has matured into an
attraction for both Kamaainas and Malihinis; and
WHEREAS, with the wholehearted community support behind the
Mac Nut Festival, the 1980 festivities will be the biggest and
best ever,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it congratulates and wishes the Macadamians, Inc.,
sponsors of the Third Annual Honokaa Macadamia Nut Festival,
every success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. & Mrs. Paul DeDomenico be
recognized for their generous contributions toward the perpetuity
of the Mac Nut Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit true copies of this resolution to the Macadamians, Inc.,
and to Mr. & Mrs. Paul DeDomenico.
