WHEREAS, on April 26, 1930, the Third Annual LITTLE MISS
HONOKAA pageant, sponsored by the Honokaa "Family Team," was
held at the Honokaa Armory; and
WHEREAS, the pageant, opened to girls between the ages of five
to six years, is held to support the Brantley Center with their
services to teach the handicapped, mentally retarded or crippled
children and adults; and
WHEREAS, in preparation for the pageant, countless hours were
spent by Gloria Vinluan and Yolanda Fernandez in coordinating
ard.preparing the contestants, selecting the judges, distributing
tickets and arousing community support for this worthy project; and
WHEREAS, the contestants were judged on their talent, response
to questions, poise, personality and overall appearance, and it was
the decision of the judges to bestow the title of 1930 LITTLE MISS
HONOKAA to Toniann Badon, daughter of Anita and Anthony Badon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Miss Toniann Badon,
1980 LITTLE MISS HONOKAA, and wishes her a successful reign.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
is hereby directed to send true copies of this resolution to
Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Badon; its sponsor "Family Team"; pageant
coordinator Gloria Vinluan and her assistant Yolanda Fernandez for
their success in the gigantic undertaking.
