RESOLUTION 130. 637
MMERE;AS, Radio Station KIPA's "Mabuhay Program" celebrates
its 40th Anniversary this month in broadcasting Filipino news, music
and entertainment, Monday through Friday frog: 4-5 a.m., and Sunday
from 5-7 a.m.; and
WHEREAS, uoilo Legaspi, the founder of the "Mabuhay Program",
broadcasted the first program in .lune 1940, and with the exception
of two years during world War II, the "Mabuliay Program" has
continued without interruption since 1940; and
WHEREAS, Benny Legaspi, joined his brother Zoilo at mikeside.
in 1960 and has since continued the program since 2oil,o's passing
in 1977,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOI:VED BY THP•. COU,NTCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HATIAII that it extends its heartiest congratulations to Benny Legaspi
for continuing to provide such an invaluable public service to the
Filipino -speaking cor^munity over the past 40 years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this resolution to Benny Legaspi. and Radio Station
RIPA, and encourage them to continue providing this highly important
public service in the future years.
