HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 636 Draft 01 1976-1980RESOLUTION NO. 636 EN WHEREAS, thr_ Hawaii State Jaycees are commemorating their 50th Anniversary this year, which was highlighted by their annual Convention which was held in Hilo on May 23, 24 and 25, 1980, and hosted by the Kilo Jaycees; and WHEREAS, this esteemed group of young leaders comprised of 73 Chapters and having a membership of over 4,000 members throughout the State; and WHEREAS, the Convention showcased for judging purposes numerous community projects that the various Jaycee Chapters had undertaken during the past fiscal year, as well as commensurate awards given to the Chapters and individuals deserving of special recognition for their outstanding endeavors; and WHERIAS, for the first time in recent recollection a Bin Islander, James Sanborn was elected as the Hawaii State Jaycee President, and the Kilo Jaycees were named the "Outstanding and Number One" Chapter in the entire State. NOW, TIiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL or THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations and sincere appreciation to all Jaycees in the State of Hawaii for their outstanding and exemplary community service that they have always been identified with. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this resolution with its encouragement for the fulfillment of the Jaycee Creed that states "Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life" be remitted to Carl Watanabe, President of the Hilo Jaycees; Francis Tsunezumi, Convention Chairman and James Sanborn, President-elect of the I;awaii State Jaycees.
