Resolution
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has been advised that Federal
funding limitations have forced cancellation of the scheduled
advertising for the Kalapana Road Shore Protection Project; and
WHEREAS, the Kalapana Road Shore Protection Project is
designed to build a rock revetment along the shore to prevent
waves and debris from inundating and covering the roadway; and
WHEREAS, this project is still considered significant,
viable, and essential by the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii recognizes
the efforts to date of the Honolulu District Engineers, U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers in promoting this project.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it takes this means to express its appreciation
for the work and efforts of the Honolulu District Engineers and
urge their continued support of the Kalapana Road Shore Protection
Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to Colonel B. R. Schlapak,
District Engineer, U. S. Army Engineer District, Honolulu; Mayor
Herbert Matayoshi; and to the Chief Engineer, County of Hawaii.
